Cold season tends to bring us dark shades, plenty of fur and leather, realm of coats and jackets of various designs and a lot of high and ankle boots. Fall-winter 2016-2017 is the time to experiment with femininity, which can be represented within leather and velvet, glaring of futuristic metallic, formal silk and satin, and of course, the influence of vintage fashion starting with Renaissance and ending with 80s.
So, let’s have a look at what brands have prepared for us!
Formal velvet: noblesse oblige
Corduroy and velvet are inextricably linked with formal style and exuberant luxury. And it is very handy for those women who don’t like to bother about particular cut and length, because even simple velvet dress looks amazing anyway.
Off the shoulders
We clearly feel the vibrations of the 80s, they are enclosed in bare shoulders, asymmetric mini-dresses and bold summer blouses. We have seen this many times before, and we are happy to see it again.
Pleat it up
Large and small folds and pleats on the skirts and dresses reigned in the previous season. Now designers give preference to small pleats that reshape any outfit.
Strong British accent
For those who crave after something authentic in fashion, there are not only tunics with embroidery, kimono coats or Slavic style sundresses. Don’t forget about classic British plaid, that always looks worthy on coats, capes and suits.
New look of military
Army style won all hearts in outerwear, mainly coats and capes in shades of khaki and dark blue, decorated with gold buttons and multiple straps with metal buckles.
Fashion update for down jackets
Many people consider down jackets as a primitive winter clothing, choosing rather stylish fur coats and shearling outerwear. New down jackets find cute trendy prints, and those of classic versions can be worn in other ways.
Bright and furry (coats)
Colorful outerwear is a great way to brighten gray (or white) winter days. If you are against natural fur, faux fur with bright shades is even more effective duo.
From bedrooms off to the street
Nightdresses and pajamas is a great way to excite others who envision an evening and cocktail looks a little differently.
Silk and satin celebration
Silk and satin can be called fashion cousins of velvet. This clothing is also considered as a luxury one and these fabrics are strongly associated with formal style that look chic, elegant and not pretentious.
Leopard from head to toe
The omnipresent leopard print is not surprising. Just wear it as you like – in coats, dresses, skirts or pants. And don’t forget about trendy faux fur coats to complete your street style with some 90s grunge vibes.
Many faces of jumpsuit
Women’s jumpsuits are gradually emerging from their status of casual wear, becoming an adequate fashion replacement for formal dresses. Their designs never cease to amaze.
Cutout side dresses
If you think that cutout dresses are relevant in summer wardrobe only, then you are mistaken. Cutting edge long evening and short cocktail dresses with cutouts at the waist, shoulders and neckline are topping the list of fall-winter trends.
Knit clothes are always numerous in fall-winter collections, and designers are looking for ways to make them more attractive for fashionistas. This year they decided to bring back the traditions of 80s and offered clothes made from fine knit with soft shimmering lurex.
Futuristic silver metallic
Silver metallic has always been a significant trend in fall-winter fashion, but what we see now is the closest vision of the authentic futurism.
Leather – universal and versatile
Leather gives any outfit a special character, sexiness and the note of aggressiveness. Black, brown and other neutral shade leather becomes the basic material for casual clothing, like coats, dresses and pants, and pleated skirts, tops and blouses.
Renaissance fashion features
The Renaissance obviously comes to replace the Victorian style. It has all chances with its fascinating corsets, puffed sleeves, open neckline and full princess skirts.
Once women successfully got rid of the corsets… But now forever. So now again we will wear them as a vivid decorative accessory over basic clothing.
Vinyl and patent leather outerwear
If you want to shine, you won’t need lurex or sequins. You may choose glossy vinyl or patent leather that looks particularly advantageous in combination with bright and deep colors.
Fringe gives any garment texture and this irresistible impression of streaming silhouette. A simple shift dress with fringe turns into a fashionable 20s style gown to wear for parties and other events. And as we have seen on the runway, the fringe is a proper element for various clothing, including tops, blouses, shorts, skirts and jackets.
Despite the rising glory of the Renaissance, Victorian features have not yet descend from the fashion pedestal which it got a few years ago. We are still wearing our beloved ruffle blouses, fitted dresses with puffy shoulders and tightly closed neckline.
