Polka dot print became one of the most noticeable trends for Spring/Summer 2018, pushing not only the plaid and the stripes, but the floral pattern as well. Polka dot dresses entered women’s fashion in the middle of the last century, and for now this pattern is coming back massively, despite the fact that vintage design has remained almost entirely among the trends of the recent past.
The color scheme of polka dot dresses is mostly neutral, combining black and white, sometimes navy blue, gray, and beige and pale pink for the delicate versions. Some designers, for example Carolina Herrera, stepped out from this, presenting on the runway bright colored dresses.
As for the design and fabrics, the choice is much broader than with a poor color palette. Considering the spring-summer season, fashion designers combine a polka dot print with a frivolous asymmetrical cut and flowy fabrics, like silk and chiffon.
